Job Requirements:
Baccalaureate Degree in nursing, microbiology, epidemiology or related field preferred and proven experiencein medical surgical or ICU setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
RN, or In training for, or current certification as an Infection Control Practitioner desired.
Physical Requirements:
Must be in good physical and mental health to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
Work Environment:
Ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions and deadlines.
Job Description:
Responsible for organizing and coordinating the hospital Infection Control Program as defined by the InfectionControl Committee and Infectious Disease Medical Director. Assists and supports administration and themedical staff in fulfilling infection control related responsibilities. Responsible for evaluation, updating andassuring hospital adherence to established and newly implemented policies and procedures from recognizedregulatory agencies. Works closely with the organized medical staff to fulfill their responsibilities ofmaintaining the quality of patient outcomes throughout the hospital.
Experience/Qualifications:
Computer and data processing skills necessary.
Knowledge of licensing regulations, OSHA and Joint Commission standards.
Organization, communication and teaching skills.
Two years experience in Infection Control and or certification in Infection Control desired.
