Job Requirements:
Education Background
BA or BS in HIM or related field, preferred.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Professional certification (RHIA or RHIT) required.
Special Training/Skills
Knowledge of current HIM software systems.
Strong knowledge of health care industry.
Strong knowledge of coding systems and DRG assignment.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 7 yrs progressively responsible management experience in a health care setting.
HIM experience preferred.
Physical Abilities
Able to sit at a desk and computer for many hours at a time.
Job Description:
The Director is responsible for the administrative oversight, directing, performance improvement, long range planning, and future technical development of the HIM Department. This includes but is not limited to: enterprise-wide responsibility for health information management; developing, and directing all functional areas of the Health Information Management Department (HIM); oversee the operations of the hospital
electronic medical record (EMR) system; developing the physician documentation management system as it relates to HIM; directing claims editing and coding operations and compliance;assuring accuracy and audit proof compilation of all forms of the medical record.
