Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in related medical field required.
Experience: Three years of experience as a registered nurse or in a related medical field. One year of experience in infection prevention OR coursework (i.e. APIC ICE 101) in infection prevention preferred.
Certifications/Licensure: Nurses must hold a current license from the Kentucky Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Certification in infection control by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology is preferred or must be attained within two (2) years of hire.
Progressive experience with demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities. Must be self motivated and directed, have good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Good clinical, computer, organizational, customer service and critical thinking skills.
Job Description:
The Manager, Infection Prevention is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the SCR Infection Control Program to prevent, minimize or eliminate the risk of infection. This includes but is not limited to surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI); educating staff about infection prevention; and the development of organization policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet The Joint Commission, OSHA, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other generally accepted agency recommendations and requirements. Employee may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
The Manager, Infection Prevention and/or Infection Control Committee Chair has the authority to institute any appropriate control measures or studies, and to recommend corrective actions within any department, when there is considered to be a danger to patients, visitors, or staff.
