Job Requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field.
Training
Educational programs related to epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practices preferred. Thorough knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards, governmental regulations, and CDC guidelines. Ability to interpret laboratory and radiology reports. Experience in research, report development, design and presentation.
Experience
Minimum two years of infection control experience in an acute care environment within the last 5 years.
License / Certification
Certified in Infection Control (CIC) upon hire or within one year from date of hire. Current BLS certification.
Job Description:
The Infection Control Program Manager is under the general supervision of VP Medical Affairs and performs a variety of professional duties involved in the surveillance, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections to include the collection, definition, interpretation and reporting of data on a systematic and current basis through surveillance of various clinical departments. Responsible
for facilitating and coordinating the infection surveillance, prevention and control program; promoting safe, effective infection control practices and for assuring facility compliance with regulating agencies in the arenas of Infection Control. Ensures hospital systems and practices comply with applicable laws and guidelines and conform to recommendations from regulatory agencies. Provides education and consultation services to the hospital staff. Works independently to develop test and evaluate data and hypotheses.
