Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience · Bachelor's degree required. Preferred in Medical Technology or related science field. · Five years of technical experience in Anatomic Pathology. · At least two years of recent managerial or leadership experience, in Anatomic Pathology. · Experience with quality control, and quality management principles and practice. Required Skills and Abilities · Knowledge of clinical laboratory test protocols, equipment, and processes. · Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills necessary to communicate with physicians, nursing unit personnel, clients and laboratory and Health System personnel while reporting and explaining laboratory procedures. · Analytical skills necessary to define and analyze operational flow and determine methods of accomplishing these tasks. · Demonstrated collaborative, team approach to management, quality improvement and problem solving. · Ability to function in a self directed-manner, that is, to be motivated to seek out potential problems and take steps to avert them. · Leadership skills necessary for implementing new procedures, ensuring that current policies and procedures are adhered to and maintaining smooth operation in area of responsibility. · Evidence of ability to apply process improvement techniques (i.e. Lean/Six Sigma) to improve work processes and bring value to the patient. Job Description:

Responsible for management of the Anatomic Pathology Lab. This lab provides testing for all hospitals inpatients, emergency and outpatients. · Responsible for hiring, training, orientation, performance review and development of employees. · Facilitates compliance with all CAP, Joint Commission, patient and employee safety, integrity, and other regulatory requirements. · Oversees the development and maintenance of technical policies and procedures, in conjunction with pathologist section head. · Responsible for development of operating and capital budgets. · Establishes means to monitor and control costs and productivity, relative to operating budget, and benchmarks. · Collaborates with laboratory management, employees, pathologist section heads, and Health System personnel using effective communication and problem solving skills. · Collaborates with the LIS department in the maintenance of all test information, and instrument interface requirements. · Responsible for all section quality management requirements including oversight of section quality control, proficiency testing, monitoring of appropriate quality indicators, and continuous quality improvement approach, in conjunction with pathologist section head of Anatomic Pathology. · Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities. · Supports regional development of the health system. · Stays abreast of technological advancements in areas of responsibility and implements new technology as needed.
