Graduate from an approved nursing program. Must hold a current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse. Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. Prior work experience must include a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a healthcare field and 3 years' experience practicing infection prevention is preferred. Management experience is preferred. Required Credentials (Licensure, Certification, or Registration): Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. is required. South Dakota: South Dakota compact license, Minnesota, if applicable, and additional RN licensure may be required when applicable for practice environment. North Dakota: North Dakota compact license and Minnesota, if applicable, and additional RN licensure may be required when applicable for practice environment. Minnesota: Minnesota license, Compact license, if applicable, and additional RN licensure may be required when applicable for practice environment.

Job Description:

The primary purpose of the Enterprise Infection Prevention & Control Coordinator (IPC) is to assist with priority initiatives related to project coordination, as assigned by the Enterprise Director of Infection Prevention. Assist in the education of employees, coordination of infection prevention training, surveillance coordination, and continual survey readiness consistent with federal, state and local guidelines and regulations. The IPC works directly and collaboratively with Sanford Health regional infection prevention practitioners and managers, clinical and non-clinical staff, Sanford Health leadership and others, as needed, to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Infection Prevention & Control program for that region. The immediate supervisor is the Enterprise Director of Infection Prevention & Control for PPS Hospital and Clinics, but work assignments may also be directed by the Enterprise Director for Infection Prevention & Control for Sanford Health Network, the Executive Director of Regulatory Services, or the Regional Infection Prevention & Control Managers. Must be able to write and communicate the English language in a legible and understandable manner. Must be comfortable with public speaking. Must have basic knowledge of computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Must have a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Must be able to collect and organize detailed information. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practice and procedures that pertain to infection prevention and control. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to handle difficult situations. Able to think critically and problem solve effectively. Must be willing to seek out new information and knowledge and be willing to embrace new responsibilities and change.
