EXPERIENCE:
Required:
At least four (4) years healthcare experience in risk management, performance improvement, safety, infection prevention, and/or critical care or other related clinical area. Must possess exemplary critical thinking skills, strategic decision making skills, problem solving skills, and initiative. Must possess outstanding interpersonal, written and oral communication and problem-solving skills. Service excellence skills in customer relations.
Preferred:
PC skills in a windows operating environment, specifically EXCEL, Word and PowerPoint. Risk management and infection prevention specific training, education and/or certifications.
EDUCATION:
Registered nurse with Bachelor’s Degree or other related health care degree from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree preferred. Computer skills necessary.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have strong organizational skills, exceptional communication skills and be able to manage situations involving conflict, including resolution and mitigation of conflict.
Job Description:
The Manager of Risk, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention is responsible for the oversight and administration of the day-to-day functions of the Risk, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention programs of the Medical Center (LGMC). This includes, but is not limited to, interfacing with insurance companies, including HCA’s insurer, defense legal counsel, and other outside entities such as law enforcement, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. This employee manages and analyzes risk, patient safety, and infection prevention educational programs for each level of the organization up to and including the Board or Trustees (BOT), as well as policy development and review. This employee must know and interpret standards and guidelines from regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission (TJC), The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), The National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Codes, Rules, and Statues.
